Entrepreneurial and Social Impact Initiatives
Scholars For Impact, Founder
2023 - present, 10th - present
Founded a nonprofit initiative that focuses on empowering high school students to engage in volunteering activities. I built a network of student ambassadors who contributed to a multitude of initiatives with strong social impact, such as facilitating residual food donations from restaurants to food banks and getting involved in sustainability actions. The initiative led to hundreds of meals being delivered in the DFW area, its impact being recognized with The Bronze President’s Volunteer Service Award.
Food4All
Developed an app prototype for the distribution of residual food.
While volunteering through Scholars4Impact, I immersed myself in research of food waste and learned that approximately 40% of the food in the supply chain goes to waste; through my nonprofit I aimed to address the problem by coordinating residual food donations from restaurants to food banks, but I realized that to drive stronger impact, I had to scale the operations. Technology offers the best way to amplify scale, and I developed Food4All, an app prototype that connects restaurants with food banks: restaurants upload real-time information on food inventory, classified in perishable and non-perishable, and the app matches it with food banks based on location and demand. Using the app, I removed the informational barriers between supply and demand and accelerated the pace of donations
